Coinbase is a US-listed exchange (NASDAQ:COIN) and one of the most regulated crypto venues in the world, licensed across the US, UK, and EU. The exchange operates spot markets, Coinbase Advanced (formerly Pro), and a separate futures arm — for halal subscribers, only the spot market is relevant. Coinbase publishes audited reserves, files SEC reports, and runs a hard KYC flow that satisfies most banking-grade compliance requirements.

Our bot connects to your Coinbase account through a read+spot-only API key. The bot can read balances and place spot buy/sell orders; it cannot withdraw funds, transfer between accounts, or access futures and lending products. Permission flags are server-enforced by Coinbase. Custody never leaves your Coinbase account.

API key setup — step by step

01Log into Coinbase → Settings → API → 'Manage API Keys' (or visit cloud.coinbase.com for Coinbase Advanced).
02Click 'New API Key' → label it 'HalalCrypto bot'.
03Complete 2FA verification.
04Permissions: Enable 'View' and 'Trade' (spot). Do NOT enable 'Transfer' or any withdrawal scope.
05Account scope: select your spot trading account only — exclude futures and any custodial-yield accounts.
06IP whitelist: bot's IP (provided in your subscription dashboard).
07Copy API Key, Secret, and (if shown) Passphrase only through the approved provisioning path. Secret is shown only once.
08Revoke any time from Coinbase Settings → API → Delete key.

Why no withdrawal access

Coinbase API permissions are server-enforced. The 'Transfer' (withdrawal) scope is OFF on the key — Coinbase's authorization layer rejects any withdrawal call signed by our key. Even with full infrastructure compromise, no attacker can move funds out of your Coinbase account through our API key. Custody control is yours.
