Why we built this

The wrong tier is the most expensive mistake you can make

When new users sign up to HalalCrypto, the most common cause of lost money isn't market timing or signal accuracy. It's tier mismatch. Someone who can't tolerate a 20% drawdown picks Multi-X for the headline returns, then panics and sells at the bottom of the first deep retrace. The strategy worked — they didn't.

The reverse mistake is just as expensive. Someone with a 10-year horizon and real risk tolerance defaults to Conservative because it “sounds safer”, then misses the asymmetric multi-X moves their psychology could actually have held. Over a decade, that gap is enormous.

The risk profile quiz is calibrated for these two failure modes. It scores honesty about drawdown behaviour, time horizon, and the size of the position relative to total savings. The answers map to a tier recommendation that's more likely to survive your next bad month — which is the only test that matters.

How the scoring works

No black box. Here's the math.

Each of the ten questions awards 0 to 3 points based on how much risk-bearing capacity your answer indicates. Long horizon, drawdown tolerance, and small position relative to savings score higher. Short horizon, panic-selling history, and large concentration score lower.

The total score (out of 30) maps to a tier:

  • 0–12 → Conservative. Capital preservation, blue-chip universe, tight stop. The tier you can hold without checking your phone.
  • 13–21 → Moderate. Balanced engine, full top-20 halal universe, regime-aware sizing. Drawdowns are expected.
  • 22–30 → Multi-X. Pre-rocket signals, convex sizing, episodic asymmetric moves. Built for users who've held through real drawdowns and want the upside.

The recommendation is conservative by design — at the boundaries, we round down. A score on the edge of Multi-X gets Moderate. A score on the edge of Moderate gets Conservative. Better to graduate up than panic out.

Behind the questions

What the quiz is actually measuring

Time horizon

The single biggest determinant of risk capacity. Short horizons mean drawdowns become realised losses; long horizons let compounding absorb them.

Drawdown behaviour

What you’ve actually done in past drawdowns predicts what you’ll do in the next one. Self-reported tolerance without history is unreliable.

Position size

A 10x position is psychologically very different from the same dollar amount as a 1x position. Concentration changes everything.

Monitoring habit

The more often you check your balance, the more likely volatility-induced anxiety leads to ill-timed exits. We score this candidly.

Knowledge level

Less knowledge isn’t a disqualifier — it’s often a reason to use a system instead of trading manually. We score it neutrally.

Sleep test

If a strategy keeps you awake at night, it’s not the right strategy regardless of its expected return. The honest answer here breaks ties.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the quiz factor in halal compliance?+

No — every tier on HalalCrypto uses the same published 4-gate AAOIFI-aligned screening framework. The quiz is purely about risk profile, not compliance.

Can I switch tiers later?+

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade from your dashboard at any time. The bot will rebalance to the new tier’s universe and limits at the next cycle.

What if I disagree with my recommendation?+

Trust your honest answers more than your preferences. Most users who override their quiz result toward a riskier tier end up regretting it during the first drawdown. That said, you’re free to pick any tier — we’ll never lock you out.

Why ten questions and not five?+

Because shorter quizzes overweight whatever’s on top of the user’s mind. Ten questions give us multiple independent reads on horizon, drawdown behaviour, and position sizing — which makes the recommendation stable rather than noisy.

Should I take this annually?+

Yes — life changes. New job, new family, new safety net all change risk capacity. Re-take whenever your circumstances meaningfully shift.
