Halal crypto on Kraken — read+spot-only API key flow with HalalCrypto bot
Kraken is the most established US-licensed crypto exchange, with strong reputation for security, regulatory compliance, and Bitcoin-native culture. Kraken operates spot markets, futures (separate entity, Kraken Futures), and Staked products. For halal subscribers, only the spot market is relevant.
Our bot connects to your Kraken account via a read+spot-only API key. Bot can query balances and place spot orders; it cannot withdraw funds, access Kraken Futures, or use Staked products. Permissions are server-enforced by Kraken.
Kraken is the primary recommended exchange for US subscribers (where Binance.US has narrower coverage), and is broadly available in UK, EU, Canada, Australia, and most non-restricted jurisdictions.
Kraken Shariah considerations
- ›Kraken Futures (separate entity) is derivatives — not halal, not used by bot.
- ›Kraken Staking earns yield — open scholarly debate; bot holds spot only and does not stake.
- ›Kraken Margin is leveraged — not halal, not used.
- ›Kraken's spot market is the only surface we use; screening applies coin-by-coin.
API key setup — step by step
- 01Log into Kraken → Settings → API.
- 02Click 'Generate New Key'.
- 03Permissions: Enable 'Query Funds', 'Query Open Orders & Trades', 'Query Closed Orders & Trades', 'Create & Modify Orders' (spot orders).
- 04Do NOT enable: Withdraw Funds, Access WebSockets API for Withdraw, Margin Trading, Cancel/Close Positions (margin).
- 05IP whitelist: bot's IP (in subscription dashboard).
- 06Save key — Kraken shows secret once. Submit it only through the approved provisioning path.
- 07Revoke any time from Kraken API settings.
Why no withdrawal access
Kraken API permissions are server-enforced. 'Withdraw Funds' is unchecked — the permission does not exist on the API key. We cannot withdraw under any circumstance. Custody control is yours, fully.
Pricing (USD only)
Conservative $49 · Moderate $69 · Multi-X $99. Billed in USD via DodoPayments and NowPayments. Your Kraken fees are paid separately to Kraken.
