Portfolio Halal Scanner

Paste your exchange portfolio. We flag what's not halal.

Format: TICKER, AMOUNT — one per line. Commas, spaces, or pipes all work as separators.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Why this exists

The Muslim's portfolio audit, in 30 seconds

If you've been on an exchange for more than a few months, there's a good chance some of your holdings drifted into positions you wouldn't pass through a Shariah screen today. A friend recommended a token. A surge of interest pulled you in. A staking offer looked good at the time. Your wallet remembers all of it.

The portfolio scanner is the simplest way to audit what you're currently holding. Paste your tickers, click scan, and see what's halal, what's haram, and what's under scholar review — with educational alternative examples for every non-compliant holding.

It runs entirely in your browser. We don't see your holdings, we don't store them, we don't need a signup. The point is to make halal-compliant rebalancing as friction-free as possible.

How to get your holdings

From your exchange to scanner in three steps

01

Open your exchange wallet

Either the spot wallet view or the asset overview page works on Binance, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase, or Kraken. Find the list of holdings.

02

Copy ticker + amount

Either copy a CSV export, or just type tickers and amounts manually one per line. Either format works.

03

Paste and scan

Click scan. The scanner classifies every holding and shows educational alternative examples for the non-compliant ones.

What happens after the scan

From verdict to action

If every holding shows as halal, your current list matches the operational screen — keep records, and use this scanner periodically (especially before Ramadan or zakat season) to confirm you haven't drifted.

If you have one or more haram holdings, the standard guidance is to review the holding with qualified Shariah and financial advice before trading. The scanner suggests educational example alternatives based on the category of the non-compliant token: a lending-protocol governance token (AAVE, COMP, MKR) may be compared with a Layer-1 native asset; a memecoin may be compared with BTC or ETH; a derivatives token may be compared with a spot DEX governance token. These are not personal recommendations.

If you have under-review holdings, the answer depends on your scholar guidance. Most users treat under-review as “hold for now, watch for the next assessment” — some users prefer to swap conservatively to avoid the ambiguity.

Tax and zakat angle

Closing haram holdings creates a taxable event

Changing a holding for Shariah reasons can create a capital-gains event in many jurisdictions. Plan for the tax consequences before you trade. In some cases, if the haram holding is at a loss, disposing of it may reduce your tax bill. In others, you may owe gains tax on the rotation.

On the zakat side, gains realised from selling a haram holding are sometimes treated differently from regular zakat — some scholars hold that the gain itself was acquired through an impermissible source and should be donated to charity rather than retained, even though the original principal may be retained for personal use. Consult your scholar.

FAQ

Common questions

Is my portfolio data sent to your servers?+

No. The scanner runs entirely in your browser. We never receive your holdings, we never log them, and there’s no signup. Refresh the page and the data is gone.

What format does the scanner accept?+

Anything reasonable. BTC, 0.4, BTC 0.4, BTC|0.4, or just BTC. One holding per line. Whitespace is forgiving.

What if my coin isn’t in the database?+

It’s flagged as ‘Unknown’. Coverage extends to the top crypto assets by liquidity. If you hold something obscure, contact us for a custom review.

Are the suggested swaps personalised?+

They’re category-matched: a lending-protocol token gets routed to a halal Layer-1 alternative, a memecoin gets routed to BTC/ETH, etc. They’re reasonable defaults, not personalised investment advice.

Will the scanner stay up to date?+

Yes. We re-screen the universe quarterly and update individual coins immediately when there’s a material protocol change.
